Avec un humour noir féroce, il la met en perspective avec les célébrations du bicentenaire de l’indépendance mexicaine, en 2010, pour dénoncer la corruption et les inégalités qui gangrènent le pays. El Infierno fit polémique lors de sa sortie au Mexique et connut un fort succès public, se plaçant 2èmeau box office.
